Hits: 4202 RI's, American Bald Eagle feeding her eaglet. Look closely and you can see the eaglet's opened beak near the mother's beak with his wings fully spread. The eaglet is still too young to fly at this point. Usually between 9 & 10 weeks, the wings & tail feathers are developed enough to fledge the nest.

Hits: 4239 RI's first "Baby", Male, Eagle! The eaglet is eating a piece of fish that his mom brought to him. DEM has already banded this chick "5A". Neither of the parents are banded.

Hits: 4324 An Eagle guarding her eaglet. It took two years before the Eagles settled in a nest in RI. Prior to that they made temporary nests, but never stayed. This year (2003) they took over a herring’s nest, and called it home! All photo's were taken 265 yards away from the nest.

Hits: 4030 Mother Eagle, checking on her eaglet. Only 40% of all Eagle chicks make it to maturity. Flashing was put around the trunk of the tree(s), to keep natures predators from harming the eggs, or the chicks when they hatched. Nothing could be done about the sibling rivalry though. Out of two chicks, the male chick killed the other chick
